Fall may have only just begun. But let’s face it: winter is on its way! As the warmer days fade away, music fans say farewell to large outdoor festivals. Right? …..nope! Music writer Gianmarco Castronovo shares the top winter music festivals that bring the heat during the colder months:
MIRA Digital Arts Festival
November 11 & 12 — Barcelona, Spain
Think Burning Man. But indoors and centered around digital arts. That’s MIRA! More than music, MIRA centers around the promotion and creation of artistic collaborations between artists. An arena that encourages the procreation of collectives, MIRA is all about development… whether that’s a one-time piece of work or the spawn of new art networks! And of course, there’s music, too! Continuing with the digital theme, the music entertainment at MIRA is performed by DJs who imbue all sorts of styles into their sounds.
Rise Festival
December 10 – 17 — Les 2 Alpes, France
The ski trip of an athletic music enthusiast’s dreams! An interesting crossover of the worlds of sports and sound, Rise Festival is the coolest party of the winter ski season! Hit the slopes of the gorgeous Les 2 Alpes and coast straight down to live concert performances, DJ sets, visual art displays and tons of fun. Oh and of course, when in France, there’s always a wonderful array of cuisine to dive into. What better way to rest up after an adrenaline-pumping day out on the slopes than to enjoy sets from acts like Chase & Status, Patrick Topping, Sigma, Sister Sledge and so many other awesome performers? A sports buff just as music as he is a music aficionado, Gianmarco Castronovo is stoked to ski Europe’s largest skiable glacier and enjoy live music!
